Respected readers! If the history of Islam is expressed as a source of light, then it is from the lives of the Companions (Sahaba) of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them all). Because these are the blessed personalities whose lives were, as it were, a practical interpretation of the Quran and a perfect example of the Sunnah of the Prophet. If their lives are observed, we find a glimpse of obedience to Allah and following the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at every moment. And this is the reason that when the pleasures and glitter of the world came before them, they turned their backs on them, but when the time came for sacrifice for the sake of religion, they happily became ready to offer their lives. Because there was such certainty and sincerity of faith in their hearts that kept their feet firm in every hour of trial. Then, when time tested their faith in practical examinations, they showed the world with their determination and courage that faith is not just a theory or belief but a source of strength of action and passion for sacrifice.
Well, besides all this, their whole life is a continuous test. Among these continuous trials, the first big destination appeared in the desert of Badr when the very first conflict between faith and disbelief came to the fore.
Those who saw, saw; those who wrote, wrote; and those who read will continue to read until the Day of Judgment that that small group which stood in rows in the name of Allah was as if a manifestation of certainty descended from the sky, whose determination made the measure of faith the standard, not the measures of power.
However, their trial did not end here, but time moved forward and put another difficult test on them. In the battle of Uhud, when the swords of the enemy and the rain of arrows began to approach, it was this group that, by sacrificing their lives, made the world understand that servitude and loyalty are not merely a matter of claim but another name for a covenant written with one's own blood. The redness of their blood testified on the earth that sacrificing for the religion of Allah is the real success and the real honor. Then came the severe trial of the Trench (Khandaq). Despite hunger, excruciating cold, and a large number of enemies, it was this caravan that, by standing firm, showed that the real strength of faith is greater than swords and spears. In addition, this battle was a declaration of that great milestone in history that trust in the promise of Allah gives a person such strength that is superior to any material power.
In any case, these three battles are just examples of their sacrifices, otherwise, if the lives of the Companions are examined, it will be known that their every day and every moment was a mirror of sacrifice, patience, devotion, and steadfastness.
To tell the truth, they practically proved the fact that religion is not just a verbal declaration or confession but a name for practical sacrifice and sacrificing life for the pleasure of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him). And on this basis, Allah Almighty bestowed upon them that immortal reward which this verse of the Quran declares: "Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him."
It is this very distinction that has made the Companions a standard and example for the entire Ummah.
Therefore, if the Muslim Ummah today wants to regain its lost honor, its lost dignity, and the position of leadership over the world, then the only way to do so is to strengthen its relationship with the lives of the Companions. Because their example is not just a story of history but a guide for the present and a guarantor of the future. In addition, the heat of faith is found from their footprints, the poison of materialism ends in their way, and by following their path, the Ummah can once again raise the flag of Allah's religion high in the world.
