Can the Quran be human speech? _ A rational and scientific review.
Article (60)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.; The question about the Holy Quran, whether it is truly the word revealed by Allah Almighty or a human
composition, is not merely a matter of belief but requires a rational,
scientific, and logical investigation. If the Quran were a product of the human mind, or specifically the prophetic speech of the Messenger ﷺ, it would necessarily reflect human weaknesses, psychological ups and downs, and personal inclinations.
But the reality is that the Quran is free from all such human influences, possessing a consistent intellectual height, stylistic dignity, and meaningful uniformity. This is what leads sound reason to the conclusion that this speech is not human but divine revelation. Is the Quran truly the word of Allah? A reasoned analysis in the light of reason, science, and logic is presented.
(1) Human Ups and Downs and the Uniformity of the Quran - A Rational Argument _In human life, there is joy and sorrow; enthusiasm in youth, seriousness in old age; confidence in success and weakness in trials. These psychological states are necessarily reflected in human writings. No author can maintain the same style, the same intellectual level, and the same spiritual weight in different stages of life.
But the Quran: is the same in the hardships of Mecca. It is the same in the victories of Medina. It is just as dignified at the beginning of revelation. It is just as balanced and lofty in the last verses.
If the speech revealed over a long period of twenty-three years were human, it would certainly show stylistic differences, intellectual ups and downs, and emotional inconsistencies, but the entire Quran is a mirror of the same divine dignity. The Quran itself declares:
﴿أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ ۚ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا﴾
(Al-Nisa: 82); Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.
Despite the passage of fourteen hundred years, no real contradiction has emerged, nor has any scientific conflict been permanently proven. Reason says: This cannot be human speech.
(2) The Difference Between the Quran and Hadith - A Logical Testimony
If the Quran were the speech of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, there would be significant similarities in the words, style, and manner of the Quran and the Hadith. But the reality is that: The style of the Quran is full of majesty and awe - The style of the Hadith is one of compassion, training, and guidance.
There is divine majesty in the Quran - There is a glimpse of servitude and prophetic compassion in the Hadith.
Such a clear stylistic difference is not possible in two works by the same person.
Therefore, logic decides:
The Quran is revelation, and the Hadith is an explanation of revelation.
(3) Absence of Mention of Personal Emotions - An Impartial Argument
If the Quran were the personal speech of the Prophet ﷺ:
There would definitely be a special mention of Hazrat Khadija (RA). Mention of children would come in a manner of pride or sorrow. Personal loves and sorrows would be prominent.
But the Quran: does not give a personal reference to any spouse or child. It even rebukes the Prophet ﷺ on some occasions. While a complete Surah is revealed in the name of Hazrat Maryam (AS). This impartiality makes it clear that the Quran is not a translation of the emotions of any human being but the balance of justice of the Lord of the Universe.
(4) The Unlettered Prophet and Scientific Facts - A Decisive Argument
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was unlettered, never a student of any school or academic institution, and was not familiar with Greek, Roman, or Indian science. Despite this, the Quran: mentions the expansion of the universe ﴿وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُون (Al-Dhariyat: 47): And We constructed the heaven with might, and We are its expanders.
Describes the stages of human creation
﴿ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً﴾ (Al-Mu'minun: 14)
Mentions the barriers between the seas
(Surat Al-Furqan: 53)
Translation: And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.
These are the facts that modern science is confirming today, but the Quran described them centuries ago. The clear decision of reason is: This knowledge cannot be from any human being, this knowledge is from the All-Knowing, the All-Aware.
(5) The Quran itself testifies to its origin ﴿تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾ (Al-Waqi'ah: 80)﴿إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ﴾ (Al-Najm: 4)
﴿لَّا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ﴾ (Fussilat: 42)
Science is a witness to the facts of the Quran, reason is compelled to acknowledge its truth,
logic is unable to bring its like,
and the Quran itself testifies to its divinity. All these arguments converge on the same truth: **The Quran is neither the speech of any human being nor the composition of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but it is the word revealed by Allah, the Lord of the Worlds._Therefore, it is not merely a belief but a reasoned fact that *the Quran is the word of Allah alone*
