Allah, the Lord of Honor, has bestowed upon His servants various blessings, skills, and fortunes. He has granted some the knowledge of religion, engaged some in the service of medicine and treatment, honored some with the expertise of engineering, and appointed some to various worldly positions. Every person is a blessing from God in their own right, and it is necessary to give thanks to Allah for every skill and every success, because gratitude increases blessings and ingratitude diminishes them.
Just as the status of a religious scholar is high in the service of religion, so too are doctors, engineers, and other officials engaged in fulfilling the needs of God's servants, so they are also worthy of respect and are the crown on our heads. But this fact remains true that the virtue of a religious scholar is the highest. The greatness of people of knowledge has been repeatedly mentioned in the Quran and Hadith, and it has been said that the rank of the knowledgeable is the highest. Therefore, it is by no means appropriate for any worldly official to consider a religious scholar to be insignificant or inferior. All the ranks of the world are in their place, but the knowledge of religion is such a position that no other office can equal it.
So it is necessary that we give thanks to Allah for every blessing, give respect to every person of skill, and especially recognize the value and status of people of knowledge, because it is through them that the light of religion reaches hearts.
