The Ruling on a Female Teacher Listening to and Teaching the Quran During Menstruation
A female teacher can listen to the Quran during menstruation; there is no harm in it. However, she should not recite the Quran, nor should she touch the Quran, but she can listen to the Quran.
It is in Sahih Bukhari:
“From Mansur bin Safiya that his mother told him that Aisha told her that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to lean on my lap while I was menstruating, then he would recite the Quran.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Kitab al-Hayd, Bab Qira’at al-Rajul fi Hijr Imra’atihi wa Hiya Ha’id, 1/44, T: Qadimi Karachi)
Translation: Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to lean on my lap while I was in a state of menstruation, and then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would recite the Holy Quran.
This hadith proves that it is permissible for a menstruating woman to listen to the recitation of the Quran, whether she is a teacher or not.
If it comes to teaching students, then she should recite the verses by breaking them up, and not recite a verse all at once. Because recitation of the Quran is not permissible for a menstruating woman in any case, she is only allowed to recite by breaking it up when necessary for teaching.
And Allah knows best the truth.
