All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and blessings and peace be upon His noble Messenger.
My respected elders and friends! How fortunate we are that Allah Almighty has chosen us from among the billions of people in the world and has seated us in His house, for His words and the words of His beloved Prophet ﷺ.
Brothers! Apparently, we are a few people sitting on a mat or floor, but if we look with the eye of faith, this is no ordinary place. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'When some people sit in the house of Allah for remembrance, angels cover them with their wings.'
Imagine! A pillar of angels rises from the earth to the sky, standing only to witness the blessing of this gathering. Allah's mercy surrounds us as a mother embraces her child."
The greatest virtue of this gathering is that when we take the name of Allah here, Allah Almighty mentions us in the assembly of angels on the highest throne. Allah says with pride: 'O my angels! Look, these servants of mine have left the pleasures of the world, left their businesses and are sitting for me, bear witness that I have forgiven them all.'
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a gathering where people were learning about religion, and he ﷺ said: 'When you pass by the gardens of Paradise, pluck something from them.' The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! Where are the gardens of Paradise in this world? He ﷺ said: 'The gatherings of knowledge and remembrance are the gardens of Paradise.'
Brothers! Just as iron rusts, so too does the rust of negligence accumulate on our hearts from the hustle and bustle of the world. These religious gatherings are factories for removing that rust. Sitting here refreshes faith, creates concern for the Hereafter, and Allah's love enters the heart. An hour's sitting here can be better than years of solitary worship if the intention is pure.
My brothers! The time we have spent here has not been wasted. This is the time that will be useful to us on the Day of Judgment. Before leaving here, make the intention that we will act on the things we have heard and take this light to our homes and markets.
Who is it that, upholding the honor of this gathering, resolves to spend his life on the path shown by Allah?
