"Yesterday, after the Asr prayer, I was sitting in the courtyard of the mosque when a person came to me. Worry was clearly visible on his face and there was moisture in his eyes. He took my hand and said in a choked voice, 'Maulana Sahib! I educated my son in the most expensive school in the city, gave him every comfort in the world, but today when my health deteriorated and I asked him to sit by my side and recite Surah Yasin, he just looked at my face. He doesn't even know how to read the Quran! I made him a doctor, but he could not become my 'son' who could help me in my last moments.'
These words were not just of that one father, but this is the bitter truth of our society today that we are unable to digest. We are in a race to make our children reach high positions, but we have forgotten that they will remain human even after reaching those positions only when they have the fear of Allah and the yearning for the Quran in their hearts.
Is your child your asset or a burden?
Think! When you depart from this world, will there be someone behind you who can pray for your forgiveness? Will he be able to recite the Kalima Shahadat while giving shoulder to your funeral? Or will he just perform your burial ritual like a 'professional'?
I have seen a dream in this small village of Araria Dhati Banser that every child here should not only get modern education, but also have the words of Allah flowing on his tongue.
Madrasa we have not only started teaching Qaida, but we have resolved to connect these innocent souls with their Creator.
People ask me, 'Masood Sahib! Why are you working so hard?' My answer is simple: 'So that tomorrow no other father has the regret that I saw in that person's eyes. Religious education is not a burden, it is the foundation on which the building of worldly success stands. If the foundation is weak, no matter how high the building is, it will fall one day.'
Let's pledge! Ask yourself a question today: Is your child starting his day with the recitation of the Quran? If not, then time is running out.
I invite you to join me in this mission. Give your children the jewel that never gets old, that is, 'knowledge of Deen'. If you also feel that religious education is most important for children in today's era, then definitely write 'Insha Allah' in the comments.
