Hazrat Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim (R.A.) belonged to a respected family of Quraish. You were the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.)'s uncle and foster brother. Your mother was very noble, the cousin of Hazrat Amina (R.A.). You were two or four years older than the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.). Thuwaybah, a freed slave of Abu Lahab, breastfed both of you, strengthening your bond. Hazrat Hamza (R.A.) held a distinguished position among the Quraish from a young age. You were brave, gentle, and good-natured. You were counted among the brave and young men of the Quraish and possessed an extremely high level of honor. After your marriage, you had three sons and two daughters, including Ya'la, Ammara, Umra, Amir, Umm al-Fadl, and Imama. Historical event of accepting Islam: Hazrat Hamza (R.A.) accepted Islam in the second or sixth year of Prophethood. The incident of your conversion to Islam is that a slave girl told you on the way that Abu Jahl had reached the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.), where Abu Jahl was sitting. You, in extreme anger and with a lesson to him, struck his head with your bow so hard that his head split open and said: "You insult him while I follow his religion?" After this incident, you formally accepted Islam. Your conversion to Islam greatly strengthened the Muslims, and the persecution of the polytheists decreased considerably. Hazrat Hamza said to the Prophet (P.B.U.H.): "O Messenger of Allah, openly preach your religion. By Allah, even if I am given all the wealth in the world, I will not prefer to abandon it." Migration to Medina: When the Muslims migrated, Hazrat Hamza (R.A.) also migrated and went to Medina. In Medina, you played an important role in the construction of the mosque with the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.). Participation in the battles: The first Islamic flag was prepared for Syed al-Shuhada Hazrat Hamza (R.A.). In 2 AH, the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.) sent him with a contingent towards Saif al-Bahr in the Medina region. In this campaign, you demonstrated your bravery and wisdom. You used to fight ahead of the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) with two swords. Achievements in the Battle of Badr: You participated in the Battle of Badr in such a state that you had ostrich feathers on you as a sign. In this battle, you scattered the heroes of the disbelievers and inflicted severe wounds on the polytheists. You demoralized the enemies. Battle of Uhud and Martyrdom: In 3 AH, you were riding a gray camel and looked like a tearing lion. No one could stand in front of you. In this battle, you sent thirty-one polytheists to hell. Then your foot slipped, and you fell on your back in the valley near the hill of archers. Your armor opened from your stomach. Wahshi bin Harb, a slave of Jubair bin Mut'im, threw a spear from a distance, and Allah Almighty honored you with the rank of martyrdom at his hands. This incident happened on the fifteenth of Shawwal, 3 AH (624 AD). At that time, you were 57 years old. According to some narrations, you were 59 years old or 54 years old. After the martyrdom, the polytheists cut off your limbs and tore your stomach. One of their women, Hinda, took out your liver and put it in her mouth and chewed it, but she could not swallow it. When the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H.) was informed of this, he said: "If this liver had gone into her stomach, she would not have entered the fire because Allah Almighty has given such respect to Hamza that He will not allow any part of his body to enter the fire." May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to make the Companions of the Prophet our role models. Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.
