Young Generation's Islamic Education: The Greatest Need of the Hour
✍️ Qari Mahboob ul Hasan Muzaffarnagri
Young people are the real asset of any nation and the guarantor of the future. If this generation gets on the right path, the days of the nation change, and if it falls into error, the entire Ummah gets caught in crisis. In today's era, where science and technology have progressed, Western civilization has had a profound impact on the minds and hearts of our youth. At such a time, there is a need to give our new generation the correct teachings of the basic beliefs, worships, and ethics of Islam, and to instill the truth of Islam in their minds with strong arguments.
The first and most important pillar of Islam is Tawhid (Oneness of God). It is important to explain to the youth that the owner of the universe is only Allah, He alone is to be worshiped, He alone is to be trusted, and before Him alone is to bow down. Along with this, faith in the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ and preparation for the Day of Judgment are the foundation of faith. If these beliefs are firm, no power can shake their hearts.
Prayer, fasting, Zakat, and Hajj provide spiritual strength and practical discipline to the youth. Unfortunately, today's youth are often negligent of prayer and distant from religious duties. It is obligatory on parents and teachers to get children into the habit of worship from childhood, so that their lives are illuminated with the remembrance of Allah.
Islam is not limited to beliefs and worships but also teaches good morals and character. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of you is the one who has the best character." It is important to teach the youth to be obedient to their parents, respect elders, be kind to younger ones, speak the truth, avoid lying and cheating, and distinguish between halal and haram.
Today, Western culture has tried to color the youth in its own colors through fashion, films, dramas, mobile phones, and social media. These things seem attractive on the surface, but in reality, they hollow out faith, honor, and self-respect. There is a need to tell the youth that the simplicity of Islam is the real beauty and blind imitation of Western civilization cuts them off from their religious roots.
Islam is not just a religion but a complete way of life. In the light of the Quran and Sunnah, it is necessary to convince the youth that Islam is in accordance with reason and nature. Every advancement in science and reason is actually a sign of Allah's power, and the teachings of Islam still guarantee the welfare of humanity.
Today, there is a need for parents, scholars, teachers, and intellectuals to work together to provide intellectual and practical training to the youth. Take them towards the firmness of beliefs, adherence to worship, and moral elevation. At the same time, make them aware of the harms of Western civilization and instill the truth of Islam in their hearts and minds with strong arguments. If we save our new generation, our future will be bright, otherwise, we will get nothing but darkness.
