History is such an art, the explanation and importance of which is proven from the Holy Quran by allusion and implication,
The Holy Quran has repeatedly drawn attention to it,
God Almighty says!
"Say, travel through the land and see what was the end of the criminals."
You say, walk on the earth and see what was the end of the criminals
"Indeed, in their stories is a lesson for those of understanding."
Indeed, in their stories there is advice for people of understanding.
And in the Quran, the power of the former nation, that is, the nation of Aad, the nation of Thamud, the definition of architecture has been mentioned.
Similarly, it has drawn a picture of the manner of speaking and lifestyle of the people of Arabia,
These are the things that are present in the Quran, we get information about the conditions of the previous nation from the Quran.
It is worth mentioning that before Islam there was no general practice of writing history, Islam has mentioned historical things in the Quran in the form of events and stories as advice, although the Quran is not a book of history but its purpose is to guide man, therefore it discusses history in such a way that people may find the way and the servant's relationship with Allah may be strengthened, but the proof of the art of history is found in the Holy Quran.
You (peace be upon him) also drew attention to the writing of history, rather the conditions and events of past nations are mentioned in the Ahadith themselves, the purpose of their narration is also the same as that of the Quran, that is, lesson and advice,
The Companions recorded the sayings and deeds of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the historical events and battles of that blessed era and other circumstances so that future generations may gain the light of guidance from it.
A large collection of biographies and conditions of the era of the Companions is found in the books of Hadith, Hadith is also not a book of history, but history is included in it implicitly, the presence of historical events in the collection of Hadith is proof of the importance of the science of history and it is proof that the importance of the science of history was accepted by the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Companions and the scholars of Khair al-Qurun.
Benefits of History:
There are countless benefits of studying history, we get insight into situations from history, it makes us able to correctly analyze any event and make correct decisions in any new situation because the historian is aware of past situations, he does not find any problem difficult, but he understands that in the way the previous situations came and then they disappeared, in the same way this will also disappear, darkness will disappear
Night will disappear and there will be day, if a historian becomes a leader, he can correctly represent his nation, the nation that is aware of its history develops quickly, its understanding and insight is high, it learns from the negative aspects and adopts the positive aspects and this nation creates a new history,
Our Tragedy:
Familiarity with history is a sign of a living and conscientious nation, today most of the people of the Muslim Ummah are unaware of history, they do not know the conditions and achievements of their previous people, due to which today our nation is cowardly, less courageous, afraid of death and is falling into the abyss of humiliation and degradation, and no one cares about it -
May Allah grant the Muslim Ummah consciousness and awakening
