Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A.) narrates: The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.) said that whoever deliberately abandons prayer, Allah Almighty appoints fifteen punishments for him. Six in this world, three at the time of death, three in the grave, and three on the Day of Judgment.
Six punishments in this world:
Allah Almighty removes blessings from his life.
The sign of righteous people is erased from his face.
He receives no reward for any of his deeds.
None of his prayers are accepted.
He has no share in the prayers of righteous people.
He remains deprived of the prayers of righteous servants.
Three punishments at the time of death:
He dies in humiliation.
He dies hungry.
He dies thirsty, even if he drinks all the rivers of the world, his thirst will not be quenched.
Three punishments in the grave:
The grave is made so narrow for him that his ribs enter into one another.
Fire is kindled upon him in the grave.
A serpent named Shuja al-Aqra is imposed upon him, its eyes are of fire and its nails are of iron, it beats him at the time of every prayer.
Three punishments on the Day of Judgment:
Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy.
His reckoning will be taken severely.
He will be thrown into Hell.
May Allah Almighty make us steadfast in prayer and protect us from the fate of the prayerless. Amen.
