Durood-e-Mustafa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is that luminous connection which bathes the believer's inner self with the fragrance of the Quran and the light of Hadith. When the tongue utters "Allahumma salli ala Muhammad," the heart actually dives into the river of Muhammad's life and emerges with purity, respect, and loyalty.
The Quran declares that "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessings upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace." This verse is an honor. It places the believing servant in the rank where the Lord of the Universe and the angels are also engaged in sending blessings. How can one who joins this rank wander in the darkness of deprivation?
The Hadith gives this connection the language of closeness. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The closest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the one who sends the most blessings upon me." This closeness is measured by qualities...
The abundance of Durood awakens the love of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the heart, and love gives birth to obedience, thus closeness becomes a reality...
The one who recites Durood actually bathes his deeds as well. It is mentioned in the Hadith that whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah sends ten blessings upon him. This rain of mercy washes away the dust of sins, removes the rust from the heart, and firmly plants the believer's feet on the straight path...
Therefore, Durood is that river in which, by descending, the heart softens, the gaze becomes pure, and the fragrance of the life of Mustafa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permeates life. Whoever connects with this river not only gains reward but also attains closeness to Mustafa, and this closeness is the greatest wealth of faith...
