“I will get married when I am financially stable.”

4) Saidna Umar (R.A.) said:

“I have not seen anyone more strange than the person who does not seek expansion through marriage, even though Allah has said: If they are poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.”

(Musannaf Abdur Razzaq: 10393)

5) The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Marry women, for surely they will be the cause of wealth and prosperity for you (due to the blessings of marriage).”

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 16161, Mursalan, with reliable chain)

2) Saidna Abu Hurairah (R.A.) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“There are three types of people whom Allah is bound to help:
✦ The one who fights in the way of Allah,
✦ The Mukatib slave (who intends to pay the amount in exchange for his freedom),
✦ And the person who gets married with the intention of remaining chaste.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1655; Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2518 — Hasan according to Imam Tirmidhi, and Sahih according to Imam Ibn Hibban. Also: Al-Ihsan, Hadith: 4030)

3) Saidna Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A.) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Seek sustenance in marriage.”

(Dailami, Sanad Zaeef; Reference: Al-Maqasid al-Hasanah, page 82, Hadith: 162)

It is proven from numerous verses of the Holy Quran and Hadith that marriage is a cause of increase in sustenance. Some of these arguments are as follows:

1) Allah Almighty says:

“And marry those among you who are unmarried, and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.”

(Surah An-Nur, Verse: 32)

Saidna Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A.) used to say in the interpretation of this verse:

“Allah Almighty has commanded marriage and encouraged it, and at the same time promised wealth.”

Statements of similar meaning have also been narrated from Saidna Abu Bakr Siddiq and Saidna Abdullah bin Masood (R.A.).
