Sunday Class: - Guidance on the Belief of Tawhid (Oneness of God) in the Era of Fitna (Trials)
Benefits: - Hazrat Mufti Salim Sahib Qasmi Palanpuri Dendrolvi
✍🏻By Muhammad Palanpuriـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ
This Sunday too, the same intellectual and ideological gathering of Hazrat Mufti Salim Sahib Qasmi Palanpuri Dendrolvi, may his blessings continue, was held, which is gradually becoming not just a lesson but an intellectual refuge for the youth of Sholapur. In this gathering, the points under discussion regarding Christianity from the previous Sunday were completed, and along with that, the famous debate recently held, "Does God Exist?" in which Mufti Shumail Nadvi, may his blessings continue, and Mr. Javed Akhtar, a representative of well-known atheist thought, came face to face. Based on this debate, Hazrat clarified the doubts arising in the minds of the youth in a very easy, simple, and heart-touching manner. Hazrat first impressed upon them that in this era full of trials, if anything is to be held onto firmly, it is the supplications transmitted from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) because these supplications are a strong fortress for us, a protective shield for our safety. Then he drew attention to this verse of the Holy Quran that Allah Almighty forgives all sins except associating partners with Him, which shows how great a crime associating partners with Allah is in His sight, but the surprising thing is that even before associating partners with Allah, the thing from which the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) sought refuge was doubt, because when doubt about the existence of Allah settles in a person's heart, then neither prayer remains, nor fasting, nor halal and haram, nor obedience, nor servitude, because the question of obeying the command of the being whose existence is doubtful in the first place is eliminated....
After this, Hazrat explained a very important point that atheism, i.e., the disease of denying God, does not come suddenly but gradually takes a person into its clutches. Hazrat also enumerated its causes and explained each cause with a common-sense example. He said the first cause is mental trauma... Someone's father has passed away, someone's mother has passed away, an accident has happened, so a person of faith says that this was Allah's destiny and consoles his heart, but a weak-minded person quarrels with Allah in the same sorrow and says if there was God, why would this happen?
The second reason is that a person becomes addicted to a sin. When sins become a routine of life, then the Quran also starts to feel like a burden, the Hadith also starts to sting, the result is that a person starts denying not the argument but the religion itself....
The third reason is that only intellect, philosophy, and science are held onto without a strong foundation of the Quran and Sunnah....
After this, he said that indeed those eyes are very fortunate who saw yesterday's debate, and those who have not seen it should definitely watch it. Then he came to the Quran and said that debate is not a new thing, the Quran has also preserved a great debate that took place between Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Nimrod. Hazrat narrated this incident in such a way that the audience was seeing the scene with their own eyes. He said that the people went to celebrate the festival, Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) stayed behind, he broke the idols, when the people returned, an old man said (قالوا سمعنا فتى يذكرهم يقال له إبراهيم) We heard a young man mentioning these idols, whose name is Ibrahim. Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was brought to Nimrod's court. Nimrod claimed divinity, so Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said that my Lord is the one who gives life and gives death, Nimrod could not understand the matter, just like Javed Akhtar Sahib could not understand the real argument in yesterday's debate. Nimrod released a criminal and killed an innocent person and said that I also give life and death... Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) gave the final decisive argument that my Lord brings out the sun from the east, if you are the Lord, then bring it out from the west. The Quran says (فبهت الذي كفر) The disbeliever was dumbfounded.... Hazrat said that the same thing happened in yesterday's debate too... Mufti Shumail Nadvi Sahib gave only one strong argument but the opponent could not understand it, then Hazrat explained this argument in a very easy way that three words were noteworthy in yesterday's debate...
Argument of Contingency
Infinite Regress
Necessary Being
Out of these, the meaning of Argument of Contingency is that this universe is not standing on its own, like an apple is supported by a tree, the tree is supported by soil and water, water and soil are supported by the sun, and the sun is supported by the galaxy and the solar system, if everything is dependent on someone else, then there must be a support that is not dependent on anyone, that is called Necessary Being, i.e., the being of Allah Almighty, who is Wajib-ul-Wujood (Necessary Existent). Then Infinite Regress was explained with an example that if you are standing in line for immigration at the airport and the line of people getting immigration never ends, then no one can move forward. Similarly, if cause continues to follow cause and does not stop anywhere, then the universe cannot come into existence, so this series stops at one being and that is Allah, as Mufti Yasir Nadeem Al-Wajidi had explained to Javed Akhtar Sahib in his question that you are a poet because your teacher was a poet and similarly if you go back in the past, you cannot become a poet, but you are a poet, so it means that somewhere this series stops...
After this, Hazrat Mufti Salim Sahib Qasmi, may his blessings continue, turned the conversation towards a very bright and decisive chapter of history and said that if anyone thinks that the question on the existence of God has arisen for the first time today, then this is his serious misunderstanding. This question has been raised for centuries and in every era, Allah Almighty has answered it through his special servants. Hazrat said that in the time of Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him), an atheist was born who denied the existence of God and felt proud by silencing great scholars. To the extent that Imam Abu Hanifa's teacher, Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him), also started to feel very worried about his speech and mischief-mongering. One night, in the same state of anxiety, he dreamed that there was a dense tree, a pig was climbing on its branches and eating the branches of the tree one by one. Suddenly a lion comes out from the root of the tree and tears the pig apart and finishes it. In the morning, when Imam Abu Hanifa presented himself to his teacher, he explained the reason for his anxiety and also narrated the dream. Imam Abu Hanifa immediately explained the interpretation that the pig is actually the same atheist who is intellectually harming our scholars, the root of the tree is you and the lion coming out from the root of this tree is me. I will debate with him and by the command of Allah, I will end this trial. The next day, Imam Abu Hanifa actually stood in front of the atheist for debate. The atheist said with contempt that you are still young in age, what will you debate with me? Imam Abu Hanifa said with great dignity that you ask the question, I will give the answer. He asked the first question that if there is God, then why was there nothing before Him? How is it possible that something exists without any beginning? Imam Abu Hanifa said to count, he started counting one, two, three, four until he reached ten, then Imam Abu Hanifa said to count backwards, he came back from ten to one and stopped at one, Imam Abu Hanifa asked is there any number before one? He said no, Imam Abu Hanifa said that when there is nothing before one in virtual numbers, then why is it necessary that there should be something before the real existence, i.e., Allah? He is the Unique, the Eternal, the Everlasting....
Then the atheist asked the second question that if there is God, then in which direction is He, in which direction does He look? Imam Abu Hanifa said that when a lamp is lit, in which direction does its light go? He said that the light spreads in all directions. Imam Abu Hanifa said that when the light that is going to be destroyed is not bound by any one direction, then why should the being who is the real light be bound by directions?
Then he asked the third question that if God exists, then where is He? Imam Abu Hanifa said that if you put ghee in milk, where is the ghee? He said in every particle of milk. Imam Abu Hanifa said that in the same way, Allah Almighty created the universe and He encompasses everything according to His glory....
Then the atheist asked the fourth question that okay, tell me what is God doing at this time? Imam Abu Hanifa said that until now you were standing on the stage and asking questions and I was standing below and answering. Now you come down and I will sit on top and answer. When he came down, Imam Abu Hanifa said that at this time Allah Almighty is humiliating you and giving me honor... Hearing this, the atheist was silenced... Hazrat said that this is the power of knowledge and the strength of conviction........
After this, Hazrat referred to the questions raised in yesterday's debate and said that a question was asked that if there is murder, theft, oppression, injustice in the world, then who is responsible for it? Hazrat said that it is necessary to understand a basic difference here that one is the creator, i.e., the one who creates, and the other is the user, i.e., the one who uses... Allah has given man power, intellect, choice, this is the act of Allah. Now if man misuses this choice, then the criminal is man, not Allah. Just like the one who makes the knife is not the criminal, but the criminal is the one who kills with the knife. Even a dog understands this that it does not bite the one who makes the stick but bites the one who hits with the stick. It is a pity that some atheists cannot even understand this........
Then the second question was about the oppressed Muslims of Gaza that if there is God, then why is there oppression? Hazrat said that the world is a place of examination. In the examination hall, the one who copies is not immediately caught and punished but the decision is made on the day of the result. The Day of Judgment is the day when Allah Almighty will give the oppressed their rights and punish the oppressor....
Then a question was raised that asking questions is forbidden in Islam. Hazrat clarified that Islam has forbidden not asking questions but asking unnecessary questions. The Children of Israel were forbidden because they used to ask questions not for action but for stubbornness. Otherwise, the Companions also asked questions and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also answered........
After this, Hazrat turned back to the previous topic and said that when Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) received prophethood, two groups were formed. One who considered him a liar and worthy of being killed and one who believed in him who were called disciples. When the Jews came to kill Hazrat Isa, Allah made the appearance of a person like Hazrat Isa and raised Hazrat Isa alive to the sky. This same truth has been stated by the Quran and also by the Gospel of Barnabas (the Gospel of Barnabas was written by a person named Barnabas who was among the disciples of Hazrat Isa) but later a person named Shaul (Paul) stood up... He fabricated a false story that I saw light from the sky, Hazrat Isa spoke to me that O Shaul why are you troubling me? So why don't you preach my religion? The disciples were simple-hearted and believed, then he taught exaggeration in the name of love, trinity came out of exaggeration, atonement was fabricated from trinity....
Now Hazrat Mufti Salim Sahib Qasmi, may his blessings continue, said that now we come to Islam... Whenever a trial comes, it never comes straight and says that I am false but comes wearing the cloak of truth... Hazrat said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) stayed in Makkah Mukarramah for 53 years and in Madinah Munawwarah for ten years. Throughout his life, he (peace be upon him) established the Ummah on Tawhid (Oneness of God), closed every door of Shirk (associating partners with God). Then before his death, he (peace be upon him) made another great prediction that after me, there will be Khilafat-e-Rashida (Rightly Guided Caliphate) for thirty years, so in the eras of Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Uthman and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), the kingdom of Islam not only became strong but also spread far and wide... So when the Islamic kingdom expanded in the era of Umar, at the same stage a person stood up whose name was Abdullah bin Saba. Hazrat said that this is the same character that Shaul played in Christianity. Abdullah bin Saba was a Jew before. He pretended to accept Islam... First he came to Madinah and accepted Islam at the hands of Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) but when he saw that the atmosphere of Madinah is pure, people are religious. It is not easy to sow discord here, so he left Madinah. Then he went to Syria where Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was in power, there was such discipline and religious awareness that he failed there too, then he went to Kufa, he could not succeed there either, finally he reached Egypt where new people had entered Islam, knowledge was less and emotions were more. Here he started his real work... First of all, he spread this rumor that Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will return before the Day of Judgment, although the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is superior to all the prophets, so if there is to be a return, it should be of Muhammad (peace be upon him)... This made some simple-minded people think. Then he slowly took the next step and said that just as Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) had special disciples, similarly the special Wasi (successor) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and he is also your son-in-law, then he started distorting the incident of Ghadeer Khum and saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had nominated Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) for the caliphate, then he raised the question that if Ali was appointed as the caliph, then where did Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Uthman come from? Were they not all usurpers? Hazrat said that this was the turning point from where the trial entered from emotions to belief. Then Abdullah bin Saba fabricated the theory that the caliphate is not a political position but a divine right that will continue in the family of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), this was later called the belief of Imamate. And this is where Shiism started and the belief of Imamate is their belief, along with this, the second belief is also of distortion of the Quran, that Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them) have changed the Quran and the original Quran is the one that Mahdi al-Muntazar has taken and disappeared. When 313 staunch Shiites become, then he will come, we say that O incompetent people, then improve yourselves, since when has this Ummah been waiting for Mahdi....
Then he said that enough for today because all the things will not be remembered together and this time you are being given a gift, the debate that is going to happen tomorrow, there can be no bigger gift than that... If you get it, be patient, if you don't get it, be grateful, this spirit has to be created in the youth........
And the last of our prayer is that all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds....
