She was engrossed in a phone conversation when suddenly an unspoken knock startled her; she felt as if something untoward had happened to her life partner on the other end of the line. Distraught, she ran in the direction where her husband was, but upon reaching there, she learned that fate had something else in store.
She was a teacher by profession, and illuminating the lamp of knowledge was her daily routine. As usual, she would entrust her two beloved children to her mother and go to school. She was performing her duties diligently when suddenly a phone call turned her world upside down. When she reached the scene, she was completely out of her senses. She couldn't believe that just fifteen minutes ago, she was hearing his voice.
Is life so unfaithful?
Is death standing so close?
Are we so unaware of it?
Have we thrown ourselves into the furnace of economic struggle solely for the luxuries of life?
Have our unbridled desires become more important than companionship and necessity?

She was screaming at the doctors, unable to believe their statement that "he has passed away." She kept repeating, "We just had tea together, he was just talking to me!"
"وَمَا تَدْرِیْ نَفْسٌ مَّاذَا تَکْسِبُ غَدًا ؕ وَمَا تَدْرِیْ نَفْسٌۢ بِاَیَّ اَرْضٍ تَمُوْتُ" (Surah Luqman: 34)
"And no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die."
Yes! This is life, and this is its unfaithfulness. It is we humans who are trying to cope with this unfaithful one, even knowing that it will betray us at any turn. The bitter truth is only death, of which we are always unaware.
What is life, even if it is a mystery
It is a series of breaths that breaks
