In the current era, when justice, the rule of law, and human rights are being talked about with great enthusiasm, some incidents come to the fore that put all these claims to a severe test. The recent incident is one of them, which has raised several serious questions.
The video of Maulana Abdullah Salim Qamar Chaturvedi Sahib that has surfaced with the police after his arrest, it seems not just an assumption but perhaps the reality that Maulana must have been severely beaten and abused. Maulana's crime was that he used some inappropriate words as a simile in his speech, although it was not appropriate to say so. Then Maulana's clarification and apology also came as a video, so why was the arrest carried out in such a strict manner? If his presented apology was not considered acceptable,
, then why was he made to apologize with folded hands after the arrest? Or why apologize in police custody? After this apology, was Maulana released? Was he sent home? No __ Isn't this oppression? Isn't this targeting a particular community? Isn't this promoting violence and hatred? Isn't this playing with the emotions of his community and inciting them? Who will answer these many questions?
Remember, you can silence people with oppression and violence, but you cannot stop the sighs that come from the heart. You consider yourself powerful, but look towards the sky, who is the real powerful one. Therefore, the real power is that which is used with justice, wisdom, and fairness. If adherence to the law is really desired, then the path should also be the one that the law has prescribed—that is, transparent proceedings, appearance in court, and an impartial decision.
This incident is not limited to just one individual, but it is a serious question on our collective system of justice. There is a need for every action to be taken within the bounds of law and justice, so that public trust is restored and society moves on the path of stability instead of chaos.
