Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
The life of this world is but a play and amusement, and surely the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah. Do you not understand?
Those who desire the life of this world and its adornments - We fully recompense them for their deeds therein, and they will not be deprived. They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but fire. Wasted are their deeds therein, and worthless is what they used to do.
But alas, today's Muslim has become blinded by the love of the world. The lifestyle he is living makes it seem like he will not have to face the torments of the grave and Hell. The reason for this is ignorance of the reality of worldly life.
Now, only those will be successful who, completely detached from the world, keep their desires under control and live their lives according to the path shown by Allah and His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. And some people say that no one will be resurrected after death; that Allah created this world for play and entertainment.
They know that this worldly life is a test for us, but still, they do all these things. If Allah had created all this for play, why would He put us in trouble? Here is something to ponder: Life is a blessing from Allah, so whenever any trouble comes into our lives, we should understand that it is a test from Allah for us. When He has put us in trials, He will also show us the way out. We just need to be grateful and worship Him.
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
If someone asks you, tell me:
What is life?
To hold a little dust in the palm and blow it away.
