Prayer is a human need, it is the essence of worship. Through prayer, calamities are averted, misfortunes are removed, sorrows and grief disappear, and one becomes rich with wealth. But the condition is that the prayer should be a prayer; it should be from the depths of the heart, with heartfelt emotions and feelings. Only then will the effect of the prayer be fruitful.
The word that comes from the heart has an effect;
It does not have the power to fly, but it possesses it.
It is written in Hayat al-Haywan 2/148 that in the book "Mantiq al-Tair," there is a story that a person was going from Baghdad to another area. He had four hundred dirhams with him, and nothing else. On the way, he saw baby Zaryabs being sold (Zaryab is a bird that is slightly larger than a sparrow). He bought the babies for four hundred dirhams and brought them home. In the morning, when he opened the shop and hung the babies in the cage to sell, suddenly a strong cold wind started blowing, due to which all the babies died except for one. The man became certain of poverty and destitution. He kept praying earnestly all night, saying, "Ya Ghiyas al-Mustaghithin, aghithni" (O Helper of those who seek help, help me). When the cold ended in the morning, the living baby started flapping its wings. So, when it cried out, the words "Ya Ghiyas al-Mustaghithin, aghithni" could be heard clearly from its tongue, due to which people gathered around it and started listening to its voice. Then, a maidservant of Amir al-Mu'minin passed by and bought the baby for a thousand dirhams, and poverty and destitution ended.
Allama Dameeri says, "See how much benefit there was in praying to Allah with a sincere heart, that Allah granted so much more profit in return for the loss in a short time. Whoever prays with sincerity of heart and devotion will surely be granted success."
Allah is ready to give, but man does not even want to ask.
I am inclined to be gracious, but there is no beggar;
To whom should I show the way when there is no traveler to the destination?
