Prayer, which is the nourishment of the soul and the recognition of faith, is the very worship in which the most negligence is seen today. The unfortunate reality is that the trend of being prayerless is quietly increasing, and this decline is not merely a lack of worship but also a sign of intellectual, moral, and spiritual degradation.
There was a time when the sound of the call to prayer (Adhan) would shake hearts, the streets would be populated with prostrations, and the mosques would be filled with believers. Today, the situation is such that the world's engagements, the desires of the self, and the race for material comforts have pushed prayer to the margins of life. Man finds time for business, for entertainment, for social media, but time to stand before the Lord has become scarce.
Being prayerless is not just an individual's problem, but it has become a disease of the entire society. Neglecting prayer gives rise to hardness of heart, scattering of thought, and aimlessness of action. When prostration is missed, humility departs, and when the relationship with the Lord weakens, the servant becomes a slave to his own self.
The need is to understand prayer not as a ritual but as a necessity of the soul. Create an atmosphere of prayer in homes, make children accustomed to prayer through actions more than words, and hold ourselves accountable for our own behaviors. Because remember! Missing prayer is not just missing an act of worship, but it is the disruption of the balance of the entire life.
If even today we reconnect with prostration, the distorted direction can be corrected, and the lost peace can be regained. Otherwise, this growing trend of being prayerless will lead us to such desolation where hearts will not be alive nor consciences awake.
