There was a king who had seven daughters. One day the king was very happy, he summoned all seven of his daughters and said:
"I want to ask you a question, and I will give a reward of your choice to whoever gives me an answer I like. All of you stand in a line and tell me one by one, whose given food do you eat and whose given clothes do you wear?"

Six daughters said in unison:
"Dear Father! We eat what you give and wear what you bestow. All our glory and grandeur is due to your presence."
Hearing this, the king was overjoyed and gave them valuable gifts of their choice. When it was the turn of the youngest daughter, she said with great humility but firmness:
"I eat what Allah gives and wear what my fate provides, that is my destiny."

Hearing this, the king became furious and said:
"O wretched one! You have been ungrateful to me, and you will surely be punished for it."

The princess replied patiently:
"As you command, dear Father!"

The king ordered the soldiers to leave her in the scorching forest, saying, "I will see how she eats what Allah gives and wears what her fate provides without me." All the princess's jewelry and royal clothes were taken back, and she was left alone in the forest in tattered clothes, without any belongings. Even in this state, the princess was calm and had complete faith in Allah that she would surely get the sustenance written in her destiny.

The soldiers left the princess. Evening was approaching, and the princess thought that she should collect some wood before nightfall so that she could light a fire and stay safe from wild animals. While searching for wood, she noticed a remote hut, with a goat tied outside and the sound of someone coughing inside. The princess wondered who could be in this wilderness?
Going inside, she saw an old man lying on a cot, calling out "Water, water." The princess immediately took water from the pitcher and gave it to the old man, then cleaned the hut.

The old man asked:
"Daughter! Who are you and what are you doing alone in this dense forest?"

The princess told him her whole story. The old man offered her to stay there and said:
"I work in the city, I am leaving now and will return after eight days. There is food here and a river nearby, you stay there."

The old man left in the morning. After cleaning, the princess milked the goat, kept half for herself and put the other half in a pot and placed it in a corner outside the hut, thinking that perhaps some hungry and thirsty animal would drink it.
The next morning when the princess woke up, she saw that the milk pot was empty and there was a very rare and precious ruby (yaqoot) lying there. Seeing the snake marks on the ground, the princess realized that she had heard in her childhood that when a rare snake is happy, it spits out a precious ruby. She picked up the ruby and kept it safe. This continued for seven days and the princess collected seven precious rubies. When the old man returned, the princess told him the whole story and gave him three rubies and said:
"Go to the city and sell them and bring back expert architects and laborers to build a palace here."

The princess made a necklace with the remaining four rubies and wore it around her neck. In just a few months, a magnificent palace was built in the middle of the forest, where the princess and the old man started living. The princess set up a large wood factory there, which provided livelihood for hundreds of poor people. Soon the forest turned into a city and there was talk of the princess's generosity everywhere. When this news reached the king, he was eager to come there. The princess sent a message that she would welcome the king only if he came with all his daughters.

The king arrived there with his daughters. The princess, wearing a veil, welcomed them and offered them delicious dishes of seven colors. With each dish, the princess wore clothes and jewelry of the same color. The king was stunned to see the splendor of the palace. Finally, he said:
"O virtuous woman! You are like my daughters, you have given us so much respect, but why this veil?"

The princess smiled and said:
"Alright, Your Majesty! I will be right back."

After a while, everyone saw a girl coming towards them in tattered clothes. The king looked closely and was surprised to see that it was the same youngest daughter whom he had left to die in the forest. Tears came to the king's eyes and he said, "Daughter! I will take you back from here, even if I have to give my entire kingdom in return."

The princess replied gently:
"No, dear Father! I am the same daughter who said that I eat what Allah gives and wear what my fate provides. The same Allah has given me such a position in the desolate forest that today I am more prosperous than you."
Then she told her story and showed the necklace around her neck in which those rubies were studded. Seeing this, the other six sisters became envious and thought in their hearts that if only they had also trusted in Allah.

Trusting in Allah is also a blessing. Which is not in everyone's share, and is only obtained with divine help.
