(Peace be upon him who, having been wounded, showered flowers)
It is human nature that when a person hates someone, they resort to physical violence to vent their anger. The same happened with the polytheists of Mecca, when they saw that the Muslims were increasing, they inflicted hardships of imprisonment on the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and that painful scene of Taif, such atrocities that one shudders at the very thought of them.
The Patience-Testing Journey of the Valley of Taif:
This is an incident from the tenth year of prophethood, in the month of Shawwal, that
Even after explaining a lot to the people of Mecca, when they did not refrain from their enmity towards Islam, then by the command of Allah Almighty, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) along with his adopted son Zaid went to Taif, a pleasant settlement some distance from Mecca, for preaching.
When they reached Taif, before entering the settlement, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) met three famous chiefs there, who were brothers. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) invited them to monotheism, but all three refused to accept it. Then the Holy Prophet (PBUH) kept telling people in Taif for 10 days to refrain from idolatry. But not a single person accepted the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) word.
Until you (PBUH) started to return, these people were so cruel that when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was returning, impudent and rowdy people among them started abusing the Holy Prophet (PBUH). They did not stop at this, but started mocking the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and then started throwing stones.
What a tragic scene it must have been when those unfortunate people were throwing stones at the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the blessed body of my beloved Prophet (PBUH) was covered in blood. The greatest Prophet of the world went to them after traveling miles to tell them about what was beneficial for them, and these immoral people, far from respecting the guest, showered stones on him.
Three miles away, a garden came into view, so you (PBUH) entered it. There, a slave named Addas offered you (PBUH) grapes. This slave was from Nineveh, the area of Hazrat Yunus (AS). You (PBUH) told him that he was also a prophet and so am I. He was very happy and kissed the head and blessed hands of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
After some time, you (PBUH) started to return from there, then on the way, by the command of Allah Almighty, Jibrail and the angel of the mountains came and said that if you command, this settlement of Taif should be crushed between two mountains.
But we sacrifice ourselves on our loving and dear Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that instead of giving a curse, he prayed that
I hope that Allah Almighty will produce from their loins such a generation that will worship only one Allah and will not associate anyone else with Him.
Everyone knows that the person who played the biggest role in spreading Islam in the subcontinent was Muhammad bin Qasim. His ancestors were from Taif. If you (PBUH) had cursed the people of Taif and they had been destroyed, then who would have been born as Muhammad bin Qasim and laid the foundation of Islamic rule in the subcontinent.
May Allah Almighty shower millions of blessings on our Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Amen
When the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was returning, there is a settlement on the way called Nakhla. Some jinn came to you (PBUH) there, who listened to the Holy Quran from you (PBUH) and believed.
When the Holy Prophet (PBUH) reached near Mecca, no one was willing to give you (PBUH) shelter. In the meantime, a man named Mut'im bin Adi announced to give shelter to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
You (PBUH) were always grateful. In the Battle of Badr, when these same disbelievers who used to trouble you and were not allowing you to enter Mecca on your return from Taif, when they were brought as prisoners to the benefactor of the universe (PBUH), you (PBUH) said at that time that
If Mut'im bin Adi were alive and then talked to me about these people, I would have released them all for his sake.
May Allah Almighty make us also act upon the excellent qualities and noble morals of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), that when someone does a favor to us, we should become those who give a good reward for it when the opportunity arises. Amen, O Lord of the worlds.
