Whose voice is this that makes the heart tremble upon hearing it?
   Article (72)
This is no ordinary sound that merely brushes past the ears; it is a voice that, when it echoes, puts a person's faith, their claims, and their destiny – all on trial. This voice is not bound by time, nor does it need a specific place; this voice echoed even on the day when Adam (peace be upon him) was sent down to Earth, and it still echoes in every heart that is alive or claims to be alive.
This is the voice that asks a person:
Are you truly a believer, or merely in name?
Have you made Islam a way of life, or just a ritual of worship?
This voice neither flatters nor gives concessions; it speaks plainly, delivers a decisive verdict, and exposes a person to their fate. This is the very voice that awakens the conscience, tears through hypocrisy, and throws hollow claims of faith to the ground.
This article is an echo of that very voice-
The voice that makes the heart tremble upon hearing it,
And if a person does not awaken even after hearing it,
Then there is no excuse left for their negligence.
Today's biggest intellectual crisis is that faith has been taken as a verbal affirmation and Islam as a social identity. The Holy Quran, exposing this complacency, states:
﴿قَالَتِ الْأَعْرَابُ آمَنَّا ۖ قُل لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَٰكِن قُولُوا أَسْلَمْنَا﴾
(Al-Hujurat: 14)
This verse declares that faith is not merely a word but a reality that enters the heart and a commitment that translates into action. This is the point where most people stumble. The voice is that it is not enough to accept Islam; it is necessary to fully live up to it.
Trial After Faith: An Inevitable Reality
This voice reminds a person that faith is not a path of ease but of trial:
﴿أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ﴾
(Al-Ankabut: 2)
The Holy Prophet ﷺ said: الدُّنْيَا سِجْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ وَجَنَّةُ الْكَافِرِ
. The world is a prison for the believer and paradise for the disbeliever.
(Tirmidhi/Kitab al-Zuhd 2324)
Here, the price of faith becomes clear. Faith demands character, demands sacrifice, and desires the sacrifice of desires.
Faith is Not a Favor
This voice breaks arrogance and declares:
﴿إِن تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنكُمْ﴾
(Az-Zumar: 7)
By believing, a person does not do anyone a favor but rather chooses the path to their own salvation. Religion is not just a personal preference but a responsibility.
Dividing Islam into pieces is the greatest intellectual betrayal. The Quran commands:
(Al-Baqarah: 208)
This verse is a declaration that Islam is a combination of worship, ethics, dealings, and social life. There is no room for selective convenience here.
Day of Reckoning: The Decisive Day.
This voice reminds us of the day when no support will remain
(Ash-Shu'ara: 88)
(Ya-Sin: 65)
This will be the day when a person's own limbs will testify against them. No veil will remain.
Religion is Not a Ritual, But Accountability
The Holy Prophet ﷺ said: الْكَيْسُ مَنْ دَانَ نَفْسَهُ وَعَمِلَ لِمَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ، وَالْعَاجِزُ مَنْ أَتْبَعَ نَفْسَهُ هَوَاهَا وَتَمَنَّى عَلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى»
.The wise person is the one who takes account of himself and acts for the afterlife."
(Tirmidhi N185)
This hadith is a practical interpretation of this voice. The real test of faith is action, not claim.
Choice Exists, and So Does Consequence
The Quran says:
(Al-Kahf: 29)
But at the same time, it warns:
﴿إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ﴾
(Al-Buruj: 12)
This voice is both justice and warning.
Finally, this voice does not leave a person on any third path. It makes it clear that faith is either complete obedience or open denial. Half-truth, half-loyalty, and half-Islam do not work here.
The Quran has given its verdict ﴿فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ۝ وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ﴾ (Az-Zalzalah: 7–8)
This is the scale where no relationship, no title, no deception will work.
That day will show a person their true worth.
Neither will the tongue speak, nor will interpretation work, nor will any veil remain.
This voice is still calling out today:
Wake up, take heed, and return!
Because whoever changes after hearing this voice is successful,
And whoever remains heedless even after hearing it-
Is the architect of their own failure.
Whose voice is this?
This is the voice of the Lord of the Universe, which demands action from faith and does not allow any claim to reach the level of complete acceptance without action.
