The Glory of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: Facts, Objections, and Defense of Reality
It is proven with truth, fact, and definitive arguments that the sacred being of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is not merely that of an ordinary human, but he is the chosen and selected Messenger of Allah, through whom the entire universe was given existence. This is the very reality that the Holy Quran has clarified in various styles and upon which the Muslim Ummah has believed for centuries.
Allah Almighty is the true Creator, the absolute Provider, but it is the same Allah who made His beloved ﷺ the giver, the distributor, and the divider. Whatever the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was given, it is a gift from Allah, and to believe in this gift is the essence of faith and the fundamental belief of the Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
We are Muslims, we believe in the Quran, we consider the Prophetic Hadiths to be true, and if a scholarly, contemplative, critical, and analytical study of the Holy Quran is done with sincerity, then this reality becomes quite clear that Allah Almighty bestowed upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from His bestowed knowledge all that was necessary for the guidance of creation, the reformation of the Ummah, and the guidance for the trials that will come until the Day of Judgment. The knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ is not inherent but bestowed, and believing in bestowed knowledge is not shirk but a requirement of pure Tawhid (Oneness of God).
Despite this, in today's era, some misguided groups such as Nadvi, Deobandi, Wahhabi, Shia groups, Khawarij, Rawafidh, Qadiani, and atheists raise various objections to the glory of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and try to spread doubts and suspicions among the Ummah.
These people say that the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not have knowledge of the unseen and that he only had knowledge like ordinary people, whereas the Quran itself declares that Allah bestows upon His Messengers as much of the unseen as He wills. In authentic Hadiths, the Prophet ﷺ gave news of events, trials, signs of the Hour, and the conditions of the Ummah that would occur until the Day of Judgment, which is clear proof that Allah Almighty bestowed upon His beloved ﷺ vast and extraordinary knowledge.
These same people also say that the Prophet ﷺ was a human being just like us, and that he did not have any special virtue or distinction, whereas the belief of the Ahl as-Sunnah is that the Prophet ﷺ is indeed a human being, but not an ordinary human being. Being a human being is not a flaw, but being a human being and being the Messenger of Allah is the greatest perfection. Where the Quran has mentioned the Prophet ﷺ's being a human being, it has also clarified his being inspired, chosen, and close to Allah.
These people also object that Allah Almighty did not give the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ any authority, nor can he benefit anyone nor harm anyone, whereas this is a denial of Allah's gift. The belief of the Ahl as-Sunnah is that the real Doer is Allah, but He grants authority to whomever He wills with His permission, and Allah made the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ the giver and divider by His command, not independent in essence.
Then these people say that using the Prophet ﷺ as a means, his veneration, and the description of his status and rank is exaggeration and innovation, whereas the Quran itself commands the veneration, respect, and obedience of the Prophet ﷺ. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to supplicate through the Prophet ﷺ, seek blessings from his relics, and consider his glory to be a part of faith. This action is neither innovation nor exaggeration, but is the essence of the Sunnah.
These same people also say that saying that the Prophet ﷺ was "given everything" is against the Quran, whereas the Ahl as-Sunnah never claim that the Prophet ﷺ has knowledge equal to Allah, but rather they say that Allah bestowed upon His Prophet ﷺ from His bestowed knowledge all that was necessary for the guidance of creation, and this is proven by the generality of the Quran, the Hadiths, and the statements of the Imams of the Ummah.
In reality, all these objections revolve around the same purpose, and that purpose is to diminish the glory of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, limit his status, and plunge the Ummah into intellectual disarray. Such people should understand that objecting to the glory of the same Prophet ﷺ through whom the universe was created, through whom the Quran reached us, and without whose following faith is not complete, is a severe deviation in the light of the Quran and Sunnah, and there are severe warnings for those who hold such a mindset.
Therefore, it is necessary for all of us to abandon prejudice, stubbornness, and self-worship and walk on the straight path, choose the path of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and strengthen our beliefs according to the Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
May Allah Almighty grant us true love, complete respect, correct belief, and protection from trials for the Holy Prophet ﷺ, and keep us steadfast on the truth. Amen.
