A few words, but dreams of a lifetime
✍️ Mufti Muhammad Tasleem ud Din Al-Mahmoodi
Not a prayer, but a complete life's map
O Lord! Grant me knowledge and wisdom,
and include me among the righteous,
and leave a good mention of me among the later people,
and include me among the heirs of the blissful Paradise.
These are not just a few words, they are the summary of a person's entire life. This prayer is the voice of that heart which, instead of getting lost in the hustle and bustle of the world, wants to find its true identity. When a person reads these words, it is as if he is standing before his Lord and confessing that, O Allah! Teach me not only to live, but to live in the right way.
"Grant me knowledge and wisdom"
This sentence reminds us that knowledge is not just the name of information stored in books, but wisdom is the light that shows the way of action to knowledge. Many people know, but do not understand; many read, but do not change. In this prayer, a person is asking that, O Allah! Give me such knowledge that does not increase my pride but increases my humility, which does not elevate me above others but makes me useful to others.
"And include me among the righteous"
Here man accepts his loneliness. He does not say that put me ahead of everyone, but says that give me a place in the ranks of good people. Because the real success is not to become righteous alone, but to become a part of the caravan of goodness. The company of the righteous adorns the heart of man, strengthens his intentions and keeps his steps straight.
"And leave a good mention of me among the later people"
This is not a desire to earn a name in the world, but a prayer to leave an impact. Man wants that even after his departure, his goodness remains, his words become a prayer for people, his actions become a path for someone. This prayer teaches us that the real inheritance is not wealth, but character. That character which becomes a ray of hope for future generations.
"And include me among the heirs of the blissful Paradise"
In the end, man acknowledges his true destination. He believes that this world is temporary, the real abode is where there will be no fear nor sorrow. This prayer reminds us that the successes of the world are incomplete if they are empty of the Hereafter, and the failures of the world are the real success if they are connected to the pleasure of Allah.
This prayer is actually the story of every person who wants to become better, who wants to remain connected to his Lord, who wants his life to be meaningful and his end to be successful. When an ordinary person reads these words from the heart, he finds himself in it, his weaknesses, his hopes and his prayers all seem to be contained in this one prayer.
This prayer teaches us that the right to be human is not just to breathe, but to live with knowledge, goodness, good influence and preparation for the Hereafter. And the person who makes this prayer the goal of his life, every day of his becomes worship, and even his silence becomes a means of acceptance in the presence of Allah.
