The art of rhetoric is an art that is proven by the verse of the Holy Quran, "Allama al-Bayan" (He taught the البيان). Almighty God has blessed every human being with this quality, therefore no human being is exempt from it. This attribute exists in every human being to the fullest extent.
If a person refines it and achieves perfection in it, he is called a speaker or orator. And the one who presents his intentions in the best style of speaking, with good manners, the emotion and melody of voice, weaving words and expressions in the best way, such a person is called eloquent in speech, fluent in expression, and capable of speaking.
Everyone knows the importance of rhetoric, that Allah Almighty made the art of rhetoric a means of spreading religion, and teaching and learning also depend on rhetoric.
The Lord has endowed the prophets with the attribute of rhetoric.
Through it, they introduced God to mankind, and through it, they brought the lost people to the right path. There are countless verses in the Holy Quran that reveal the art of eloquent speech.
In our time, whatever work of serving the religion is being done among the masses is due to the perfection of this rhetoric. Fluency in language is the first step towards the rise, progress, and advancement of a nation. A person also introduces himself through it. Rhetoric is needed in every field. There is no field that is devoid of it. A person who is not capable of speaking is generally not considered worthy and competent, nor is he appointed to any high position. It is also necessary for a person to be a speaker in politics. It is only possible to make people the center of your attention and admirers when you are an expert in linguistics, otherwise your words will be viewed with indifference. If you are a religious scholar but are unfamiliar with speech and rhetoric, then you are not beneficial to the public, because the public understands religion through rhetoric. A writer's work can only benefit a select few, while a speaker's rhetoric can benefit both the public and the elite.
Despite such importance, we are showing indifference and turning away from this art. There are several reasons for this:
1. We are unaware of its importance and usefulness.
2. We do not want to become anything.
3. We consider it difficult.
4. We do not feel its need, due to which, despite being aware of the problems that arise later, we are unable to express our intentions and wipe away the tears of shame with the hem of humiliation in front of people.
May the Lord bless us with this art and grant us the ability to achieve a prominent position in it. Amen.
